The City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands is seeking a working Arborist to help maintain Billings’ 9,000 Park Trees. The Arborist performs skilled and technical tasks in the management of tree planting, pruning, after care, and removal primarily within City Parks. The successful applicant must have knowledge of principles, theory, and practices applied to modern arboriculture. The Arborist works outside the majority of the year, and will operate a variety of arboricultural equipment, and must have the ability to climb trees using rope and saddle. The Arborist will work under the supervision of the City Forester and will assist in the supervision of seasonal employees.

Salary: $17.72/hour plus benefits

Minimum Qualifications:

High school Diploma or equivalent
Two or more years of combined education and experience in Urban Forestry work
Valid State of Montana Commercial Driver’s License, Type II, Class A is required or ability to obtain within one year of hire
International Society of Arboriculture Arborist certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Montana Department of Agriculture Applicator License required or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Tree Worker or Aerial Lift certification through the International Society of Arboriculture is preferred.

GIS and GPS experience is preferred.
